Say what you need to say

It seems like as soon as I turned 18, I was hit with an onslaught of important decisions.

College was a given, but not being able to do every and any journalism assignment took some discipline.

However, had I not applied for every journalism workshop I qualified for this summer, I would not have experienced post-tornado coverage in Tuscaloosa or hearing my voice behind a live radio broadcast in West Virginia.

I even changed my ringtone for the first time in more than a year, it is from a "We're coming back" Alabama tornado video. The song -- London Music Works' "Requiem for a Tower." Now, I'm motivated to answer my phone.

Today, I also listened to my voice on Alabama NPR. I still do not like how I sound, but I had similar quips when I had to write essays and ask questions in elementary school -- and that turned out well.
